چکیده

We give a concise axiomatic introduction into the fundamental structure of classical electrodynamics: It is based on electric charge conservation, the Lorentz force, magnetic flux conservation, and the existence of local and linear constitutive relations. The inhomogeneous Maxwell equations, expressed in terms of D and Hi , turn out to be a consequence of electric charge conservation, whereas the homogeneous Maxwell equations, expressed in terms of Ei and B, are derived from magnetic flux conservation and special relativity theory. The excitations D and Hi , by means of constitutive relations, are linked to the field strengths Ei and B. Eventually, we point out how this axiomatic approach is related to the framework of gauge field theory. E-Mail: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] 1Edited by C.E. Stability of higher derivative modifications of Einstein - aether theory

A time-like unit vector field is used to generalize Einstein's gravity. The resulting theory, called the Einstein-aether theory, consists of a minimal coupling between an aether field and gravity. Inspired by the Bopp-Podolsky electrodynamics, which is well-known for removing the singularity at the point charge, we generalized the Einstein-aether theory by adding such a higher order self-intera...

A manifestly gauge-invariant hamiltonian formulation [1] of classical electrodynamics has been shown to be relativistic invariant by the construction of the generators of the Poincaré Lie algebra. The original formulation in terms of reduced distribution functions for the particles is applied here to the case of two charges interacting through the classical electrodynamical field. A reduced des...

TGD Based View about Classical Fields in Relation to Consciousness Theory and Quantum Biology

In TGD Universe gauge fields are replaced with topological field quanta. Examples are topological light rays, magnetic/electric flux tubes and sheets, and flux quanta carrying both magnetic and electric fields. Flux quanta form a fractal hierarchy in the sense that there are flux quanta inside flux quanta. It is natural to assume quantization of Kähler magnetic flux. Braiding and reconnection a...

2 the Classical Electromagnetic Field 3 2

A condensed introduction to quantum gauge theories is given in the perturbative S-matrix framework; path integral methods are used nowhere. This approach emphasizes the fact that it is not necessary to start from classical gauge theories which are then subject to quantization, but it is also possible to recover the classical group structure and coupling properties from purely quantum mechanical...

Holographic correspondence between electrodynamics in three and four dimensions

We show that correlators of the gauge field in 3D electrodynamics with N flavors of massless matter can be obtained, in the leading order of the large N expansion, from solutions of free classical electrodynamics in a 4D half-space for which the 3D space is the boundary. The Abelian gauge fields of the two theories are dual to each other. We conjecture that for 3D scalar electrodynamics this du...
